THE United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has urged parents to educate their children on family planning at a young age. This is part of a bid to control the high fertility rate in Fiji. The UNFPA has also conveyed the urgency for concerted efforts from stakeholders to address population and development issues in Fiji.
The comment was made by spokeswoman Lorna Rolls at the two-day UNFPA consultation at the Novotel Hotel in Lami.
"Parents are the key features of shaping their children's minds so the issue of overpopulation is controlled," Ms Rolls said.
